Woodstock Recreation Center

Founded in 1946, the Woodstock Recreation Center serves the recreational needs of Woodstock and surrounding communities. Prior to 2007, the facility was run down. Many of the spaces had fallen out of use, the pools were in disrepair, and equipment and outbuildings on the recreation fields were outdated. The center hired Banwell Architects to design renovations to improve all of their fitness amenities.

Features of the renovations include:

  • Modernized fitness center and dance studio to improve comfort
  • Large fitness room and flex room for yoga and spinning to expand services
  • Improved basement locker rooms and kids game room to utilize basement space
  • New teen center in mid-level room for community and school use
  • Pool resurface and coat to prepare the pool for another 20 years of use
  • Renovated athletic courts and new outbuildings and parking area to improve field use

Banwell Architects designed renovations that would preserve the buildings natural beauty at the center of a thriving town. The renovated fitness center attracts more community members with expanded services and more attractive, functional, and well-lit spaces.
