Lebanon Opera House

Lebanon Opera House is a historic 800-seat theater located in downtown Lebanon, NH. Originally built in 1924, the building has undergone numerous renovations and additions over the years. In addition to housing the theater, the building is also the location of Lebanon’s City Hall, with numerous administrative offices, conference rooms, and other resources. 2024 marks the theater’s 100th anniversary. In celebration, the theater is planning a renovation that will both help modernize the theater as well as pull all employees under one roof. Banwell Architects is working with the client to develop the project.

Some of the improvements include:

  1. Update the lobby and main entrance. Improve circulation, new ticketing booths, create a more relaxed atmosphere to encourage socializing. Currently, people move very quickly through the lobby and the space lacks a sense of community.
  2. Renovate the rooms adjacent to the lobby to create more office space. Currently, the theater staff is located in different buildings throughout the town.
  3. Build a concessions room to serve both food and beverages.
  4. Build an addition at the rear of the building. This will increase the Green Room by 50% and provide much needed storage immediately adjacent to the stage.
