Its Wedding Season!

Have you ever noticed that weddings often come in waves? Some years you may not have a single wedding to attend, other years you may have three weddings in one month. The latter describes my summer, and I could not be more excited.

Sure, attending weddings can be expensive. Gifts, hotel rooms, traveling. But in my opinion, that is money well spent. Weddings can bring family and friends together in one space unlike any other event (Well… besides maybe a funeral…). So far this month I have had two cousins get married, each on the opposite side of the family. The last time I saw ALL of my family in a month, let alone within a two-week span? It was at my wedding four years ago! And before that, my brother’s wedding! And before that, never!

Why are weddings so darn fun? Well-dressed people, great food and drinks, family and friends, stunning venue, beautifully designed decorations and atmosphere, music and dancing all in one place celebrating the happiest moment of two people’s lives? Yes, please. That is basically all of the fun things in life rolled into one afternoon.

In addition to both of the family weddings earlier this month, I had a bachelor party last week (fun, obviously), and one of my best friends from college is getting married next weekend. July 2018 = epic.

In closing, I would like to say a toast (raises bubbly glass). For all you beautiful young couples out there, keep getting married. Sure, this wedding may cost the equivalent of a down payment on a house. Sure, you will spend months and months preparing for an 8-hour event that will go by in a blink of an eye. Sure, one of your uncles or bffs from college will probably get a bit too tipsy and make a scene. But please know that the rest of us truly appreciate being invited to your special day and we are going to have a GREAT time. Cheers!
