Brewster Academy – Pinckney Boathouse

Located on the shore of Lake Winnipesaukee, this facility was designed to house Brewster Academy’s sailboats and rowing shells, as well as provide a special meeting place. The boathouse quickly became a focal point for the entire campus and is in constant use for various school functions. The building is reminiscent of turn-of-the-century Lakes Region architecture with its shingled siding and native stone foundation.

The large meeting room features an oversized fireplace, hardwood dance floor, exposed wood glue-laminated beams, and a balcony with wood railings. The large bay window emphasizes the building as a landmark from the water, while admitting daylight and providing ventilation during the summer. The building’s lower level serves as a storage and maintenance area for boats.
