Job Shadow Day at Banwell Architects

On April 6, 2016, Banwell Architects hosted five local middle school students for the annual Upper Valley Business & Education Partnership’s Job Shadow Day. At Banwell we believe that fostering education through meaningful real life learning experiences is a vital practice that benefits both our firm and the surrounding community.

The five students were excited and enthusiastic with the opportunity to spend their day as architects. During their time at Banwell the students were given a tour of the office, an explanation of our design process, a look at some of our current projects, and the opportunity to participate in a real life architectural exercise. The students were provided with a program and the task of designing a layout for a ‘Meditation Lodge’ for our current Retreat Farm Project, located in Brattleboro, VT. To wrap up the day we critiqued the student’s proposed designs over a pizza lunch.

We hope that the opportunity to spend a day practicing architecture at our firm has inspired these enthusiastic young students to pursue a career in design.
